1st Annual Stinson Beach Doc fest
First Annual Stinson Beach Documentary Film Fest, November 7th-9th
Benefiting the Stinson Beach Community Center, the First Annual Stinson Beach Doc Fest will be held November 7th to 9th at the Stinson Beach Community Center, located at 32 Belvedere Avenue, Stinson Beach, behind the Firehouse. See: www.stinsondocfest.org
Showcasing five of the best documentary films of the year, Film Fest begins Friday night, November 7th at 6:30pm with an Opening Night Gala, featuring live music by Cole Tate and a delicious “Tastes of West Marin” dinner. The feature film, This Ain't No Mouse Music, an award-winning music documentary about Berkeley’s Arhoolie Records founder Chris Strachwitz follows at 8:00pm, with in-person comments from the director.
On Saturday night at 6pm “Alive Inside: A Story of Music and Memory,” this year’s winner of the Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival, will be screened. It will be followed at 8pm by “The Internet’s Own Boy,” a remarkable film that examines the future freedom of the Internet and the life and death of young computer genius Aaron Schwartz.
On Sunday at 5pm “Pelican Dreams,” a new film by the maker of “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” will be shown. This charming film is great for children – and anyone else who loves pelicans. At 7pm “Anita: Speaking Truth to Power,” will close the festival. A powerful film about Anita Hill and the Senate hearings in which she courageously accused Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment, “Anita” is a dramatic look at the consequences to a private citizen who acts out of a civic duty to 'speak truth to power.'
Individual film tickets are $8 in advance; $10 at the door. Opening Night Gala tickets, including dinner and the film, are $40. Sponsorships of the Film Fest that include tickets to all the films and the Opening Night gala are also available.
