ACR Nature Connection: Bird Language Day
Birds talk to each other, we can understand them, and it's fun! Come join the fun and step into the interesting conversation of Nature. We will begin with an introduction of "The Five Voices of the Birds" and the “Shapes of Alarm” generated by all of nature’s creatures. As we practice diminishing our ring of disturbance and expanding our awareness so that you can join in on the conversation, we will sit, observe, and drop into the constant bird conversation at Martin Griffin Preserve. We will then come together, share our individual experiences and from that pull together the overall story of the day.
Peter Bergen, Nature Connection Specialist, is the director of Outside in Nature youth and adult programs based at Tara Firma Farms in Petaluma and also The Nature Connection Mentoring Foundation's (NCMF) Bird Language Training/Event Coordinator. He was first introduced to nature connection practices and primitive skills by Tom Brown Jr. in 1987. Since then he has been learning, practicing and enthusiastically sharing these time-tested skills and activities. He has enjoyed working with school and scouting groups, nature preserve docents, and others in places like New Jersey’s Pine Barrens, Tennessee’s rolling hills, and all over California. As part of NCMF, Peter works closely with Jon Young, author of What The Robin Knows, and The 8 Shields Institute Team.
