ACR Nature Connection: Butterfly Exploration

Date:
Saturday, June 3, 2017 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Event Description:

AUDUBON CANYON RANCH
Martin Griffin Preserve
ACR Nature Connection: Butterfly Exploration

Liam will lead two Butterfly Walks, from 1:00-2:00pm and 2:30-3:30pm. Explore the various ecosystems of Martin Griffin Preserve and the many butterflies that are specific to different habitats.

Liam O'Brien, a trained Broadway actor, radically altered the trajectory of his life when a Tiger Swallowtail flew by in 1996. After surveying all of the butterflies of San Francisco County that year, he created the Green Hairstreak Project for Nature in the City. Continued work with the Endangered Mission Blues, launching his latest effort – Operation Checkerspot - for the Presidio Trust, and finding time for a new passion (lichens) will make 2017 a busy year for him. Liam received the 2014 Bay Nature Magazine "Environmental Educator" Award. He also illustrates trail signs for SF Rec & Parks.
