ACR Nature Connection: Nature-based Yoga in the Canyon

“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” Khalil Gibran

Come feel the earth beneath your feet, engage your senses, and connect with the natural world at ACR's Martin Griffin Preserve for a morning of Nature-based Yoga in the Canyon with Elizabeth Barnet.

Instructor's Biography: Elizabeth Barnet

Teaching yoga since 1992, Elizabeth apprenticed with Judith Lasater at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco, studied with Donald Moyer and others at the Yoga Room in Berkeley, and continues her movement studies. Elizabeth’s yoga background is rooted in the Iyengar tradition and is informed by Desikachar, flow yoga, and dance. Her teaching style is gentle, thorough, and articulate; Classes include fundamental movements, careful observations, inspiration from the natural beauty of West Marin, and a sense of humor.

Elizabeth is a graduate of St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a great books program. Elizabeth was born in Zambia and grew up in many parts of the U.S. including Boulder, Chicago, Bar Harbor, and Boston. She is the mother of three and taught through all of her pregnancies. Elizabeth and her husband, artist Rufus Blunk, www.rufusblunk.com, met in the Nicaraguan countryside in 1986 while volunteering on a housebuilding and water system project. Elizabeth is also the co-founder of West Marin Commons,www.westmarincommons.org, a community organization.
