Date:
Saturday, August 31, 2019 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Event Description:

Artist Reception Art Quilts: Never Too Much Color By Sydne Bortel

Please join us for an unforgettable Art Quilt Show by local quilter Sydne Bortel. Sydne Bortel creates contemporary art textile quilts, inspired by travel, nature, cultural and political issues. Many of her quilts include deep saturated colors. The “quieter, more subtle” she says are inspired by Japanese tradition with contemporary embellishment. Retiring from a 30 year career in clinical social work freed Sydne to move from traditional quilt making to contemporary art quilting. Sydne has been a Marin Experience Corps volunteer tutor for nine years, and is currently a member on the Dance Palace Art Committee. She and her husband Allan, live part time in West Marin where she enjoys the vibrant landscapes and friendships of her community. Sydne has won many awards for her wonderfully handcrafted pieces, but she especially values the honorable mention from the 2018 "80 Over 80 Fine Art" exhibit.

August 31st 2pm - 4pm
