Artist Reception: Gallery Commonweal
Join us August 17, 3-5pm, for an artist reception at Gallery Commonweal for artist Rebecca Katz. The reception will feature delicious and healthy nosh prepared by Claire Heart, and lots of good company. Rebecca has been part of Commonweal for decades, and was one of our first Cancer Help Program nutritionists/chefs. Since then, she founded Commonweal's Healing Kitchen Institute and she's written award-winning cookbooks including The Cancer Fighting Kitchen, The Longevity Kitchen, and the Healthy Mind Cookbook.
In this incarnation of her life, she has launched a career as an artist: "Today, I find making art and cooking creatively are both opportunities to be fully present in life, to pay attention to color, texture and composition. To be inspired by nature. To be so absorbed in tasks that time expands. Working in my kitchen or studio is an immersion experience, in a vibrant, reverent, tactile, visual world."
Her show, Daily Bread, will be in our gallery through October. Gallery Commonweal is open M-F, 10-4pm, or by appointment.
