“Art in the Moment” at the Fairfax Library

Is a group show by Karen Nani Apana, Susan Brayton, Carol Griffin and Ayumi Kie-Weissbuch.

The show is up for the month of January and is exhibited throughout the library.

A reception will be held Saturday, January 20, from 2pm – 4pm.

Conversations with the artists at 3pm.

We four women have met together for 30 years to share our lives through a drawing and color art process.  We met as students of artist Connie Smith Siegel who created this process which combines “sensing” drawings and color harmonies to explore issues, decisions, feelings and artistic choices.

As artists, we have each gone on to develop our work in painting, collage, drawing, sculpture and poetry.  This show honors our long-time friendship and deep sharing, coming together to do the art process many times each year.

We have been witnesses to each other’s life transitions, dramas, and joys, while using sensing/drawing art as our connection and foundation for our friendship.  Our friendships are based primarily on our inner lives and sharing our artistic process.  We have used this creative process to respond to life questions, to uncover the next phases of life, and to provide insight into important decisions.

This show is a tribute to the support that expressive arts give to art practice and personal growth.
