The Box Art on display at GRO’s annual Box Show is creative, ingenious and amusing. There is always something to amaze young and old. 150 artists are each given a plain wood box; each donates time, materials and talent to create a unique art object This show has drawing power and over 6000 viewers visit GRO to view and bid. During the final bidding in a wild, fun, often boisterous auction, bids that start at $30 can sometimes go as high as $5,000, or you might get lucky. This show and the exciting final bidding will not disappoint!!
The Box Show is the major yearly fundraiser for Gallery Route One, a nonprofit, community-serving art organization, presenting exhibitions by artist members and invited artists in Point Reyes Station year-round.
The proceeds from the Box show go towards the funding of community outreach projects, including Artists in the Schools, The Latino Photography Project, and programs focused on local and global environmental issues
People wait a year for this always popular and fun fundraiser.
More than 400 enthusiasts try their luck at our annual lottery. The
winner receives a box and becomes a participating box artist. We also hold a raffle, supporting our Artists in the Schools Program, offering a chance to make a box to one lucky winner.
This is a great introduction to art for children of all ages. It’s the most fun you can have at a gallery!
Admission to the BOX SHOW is always free.
