Danny Vitali & Brian Laidlaw

Date:
Saturday, November 17, 2012 - 7:30pm
Location:
Event Description:

Brian Laidlaw and Danny Vitali met in Minneapolis, while the former was pursuing an MFA in Poetry, and the latter was living as a full-time musician. The duo first collaborated on the album wolf wolf wolf, which was written as a musical counterpart to Laidlaw's master's thesis. Since then the two have played together extensively in both the Midwest and the Pacific Coast. This year they also received a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board to record a new album called Echolalia; this suite of songs, inspired by Vitali's hometown of Hibbing, owes a stylistic debt to another famous Hibbing native: Bob Dylan.

On Saturday, November 17, Laidlaw and Vitali will take the stage at the Dance Palace Church to share some new compositions and old favorites. Their performances are certain to satisfy both the mind and the heart, and this event - their first since recording the new album - is likely to be a special one.
