David Asher Book Talk & Buttermaking Demonstration

Date:
Thursday, January 14, 2016 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Event Description:

David Asher of the traveling BlackSheep School of Cheesemaking will be at Point Reyes Books Thursday January 14th at 7 PM for a free book talk.  He will demonstrate how cultured butter is made and  how the concepts involved in making butter provide insight into the nature of milk which applies to the big picture of making cheese.

David Asher is author of The Art of Natural Cheesemaking which was a book envisioned as a companion to his hands-on workshops.  The book is meant as a guide for novice cheesemakers however even experienced cheesemakers may appreciate the different approaches to a familiar subject.  Cheeselovers too can enjoy learning about how their favorite food is made.  And ethical eaters will find insight in the book's focus on the social and ecological costs of standard cheese-making practices and alternatives to the status-quo.

A workshop in Rennet Cheesemaking follows on Friday January 15th 3-6 pm in Point Reyes.  Call Lisa for more information:  510-326-0893.
