Earth Connections

Date:
Friday, March 13, 2015 - 11:00am to 4:00pm
Event Description:

"Earth Connections", an exhibition of the work of 4 local women artists, is inspired by the literary conference, "Mapping a New Geography of Hope: Women and the Land" presented by Point Reyes Books and Black Mountain Circle. For more information about the conference, go to: http://ptreyesbooks.com/goh

Lorraine Almeida, exhibition curator, said, “This exhibit brings together a group of expressive abstract painters who are strong in their individuality. All four have come from different parts of the world. The focus of the exhibit will be on Hope, Women and the Land.  The images manifest the artists’ feelings about hope and the earth”.

The artists include Susan Brayton (originally from England), Wen Shen (grew up in Taiwan), Pam Fabry (of Bolinas), and Ayumi Weissbuch (Japanese/Hawaiian). This group of artists meets regularly to paint together and deepen their creative expression in Toni Littlejohn’s Wild Carrots studio. The group describes their work for this exhibition as follows, “In the belief that art conveys a sense of connection, our personal “wild excavation process” involves investigating our inner experiences through making art. We are giving expression, using mostly abstract forms, to our interior landscapes and our response to the landscapes that surround us”.

NOTE: The gallery will also be open on Friday, March 13, 11am-4pm, to be available for Geography of Hope conference attendees.
