Date:
Saturday, June 6, 2015 - 10:00am to 3:00pm

Join Suzanne Bell for a day of painting in beautiful Point Reyes. The ancient art of Encaustic painting is a 3000 year old art form consisting of melted bees wax, tree resin and pigments for color. The magic of this medium can be seen as the colorful molten wax begins to move freely creating a beautiful luminescent work of art.

The Basics & Beyond workshop focuses on encaustic safety, studio set up, the history of encaustics along with several painting techniques: fusing with an iron, heat gun, blowtorch, stylus, scraping to discover the layers of colorful wax, carving to define shapes, fun textures, taping for line & design, lots of tools & gadgets, effects of joss paper, gold leafing, oil sticks, color mixing and much, much more. Students will complete several encaustic masterpieces ready for showing! Dress for mess, bring a sack lunch and come to have fun! Please bring a $45 supply fee payable to instructor.
