An Evening with Isabel Allende
Plus Special Pre-event Gathering with Isabel Allende
To Benefit the Dance Palace Community Center
Tickets: $20 for talk; $100 for pre-event gathering with Isabel Allende at the Point Reyes Studio of Ernesto Sanchez (includes entry to talk)
Chilean writer Isabel Allende, a longtime Marin County resident, won worldwide acclaim with her bestselling first novel, The House of the Spirits, which also established her as a feminist force in Latin America’s male-dominated literary world. She has since written some 20 books, including her latest novel, The Japanese Lover. Known for writing in the literary style of magic realism, Allende is adept at marvelous surprises. At this evening benefit for the Dance Palace Community Center, she will read a little, converse a little, and answer questions in a lively exchange with Patricia Holt, the former Book Editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, and Doris Ober, editor of the West Marin Review. There’s also a special pre-event gathering with Isabel Allende at 5:30 p.m. at the Point Reyes Studio of Ernesto Sanchez with hearty hors d’oeuvres prepared by Osteria Stellina. Sponsored by Point Reyes Books and the Dance Palace Community Center. Reservations are required for the pre-event gathering. Advance tickets are available at dancepalace.org and at the bookstore.
