Ever Changing Earth
ART by the BAY WEEKEND GALLERY in Marshall is showing an exhibition of artworks inspired by the stunning beauty of West Marin. “Ever Changing Earth” prominently features landscape paintings by artist, Jan Buscho. Although representational, it is Jan’s desire to create an interpretation of the natural world that elicits a mood, moment or experience. Her goal is to inject each painting with an element of mystery, intrigue or awe. Locations that appear in her paintings include Marshall, Nicasio, and Abbott’s Lagoon, to name a few. Exhibition curator, Lorraine Almeida, has likened her works to those of artist, Turner. She has been exhibiting her work extensively in the Bay Area since 2010.
Also showing at the gallery is Art by the Bay Weekend Gallery’s own owner/curator, Lorraine Almeida. When Almeida paints, she finds that the focus requires an active form of meditation. Her works, though many are reflective of the natural environment, come from an inner, spiritual environment. Her work has been exhibited throughout the greater Bay Area, Sacramento, Chicago, and also in Russia.
Photographs of West Marin by artist, Jude Vasconellos will also be included in the show. For Vasconellos, photography is a way to save moments in time and place, providing a focus outside of herself that drops her into the beauty of the natural world. The experience is healing and uplifting for Jude at that moment and she hopes it will be for others as well, when they view these "moments in time". A professional artist since the 70’s, and works in a variety of materials and processes including jewelry, sculpture, and printmaking, in addition to photography. All of her work is inspired by nature and she believes that our human energy is part of the universe that surrounds and fills us all.
The exhibition opens for viewing on Friday, June 19, 3-6pm. The Opening Reception for the artists will be held on Sunday, June 28, 3-5pm.
