FOOD AND FEELING - EXPLORING THE ENERGY OF EATING

AN AFTERNOON WORKSHOP WITH JULIE MOTZ (http://juliemotz.com)

AUTHOR OF HANDS OF LIFE (http://www.spiritsite.com/writing/julmot/)

Eating - an activity that is supposed to sustain life - is something with which too many of us have a challenging relationship. The very pleasure food gives us seems to threaten our well-being by luring us into unhealthy excess.

Eating healthy food and eating just what your body needs is not a question of will power or moral resolve. We feel compelled to overeat and to eat badly because some unconscious part of ourselves is convinced that we will die if we don't keep chewing and swallowing foods of a certain flavor and texture. This part is reacting to very early, buried trauma of which something in our current lives is reminding us. Even if we hate or despise ourselves afterwards in the moment it is the only thing that seems to be able to bring comfort or relief/

In this workshop you will learn how to observe yourself when you are eating and discover what feelings you are suppressing and the memories that lie behind them. You will open the door to a new way of being with yourself around your cravings and compulsions. You will discover the emotional logic behind your "craziness" around food and begin to bring your body and its appetites unto present time and vibrant health.
