Forest Bathing Meditation - Workshop

Date:
Sunday, March 31, 2019 - 9:00am to 12:00pm
Event Description:

In Japan Shinrin-yoku is a term that means "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." It was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Join us for a morning  exploring and experiencing Forest Bathing meditation with Emily Swanson. In this class we will explore the exciting science and research behind nature connection and human health well being, as well as experience it for ourselves. You will leave rejuvenated and with a renewed -- with the knowledge, resources and skills to deepen your connection to nature.

We are nature. We are made from the same stuff as the stars, as the mountains and rivers and winds. When we are present with nature, even for minutes a day, our brains, our bodies and our spirits awaken to more life and wholeness. As science catches up with our ancestral knowledge, medical professionals are prescribing nature connections for depression and anxiety to ADHD. This workshop will include guided meditations, discussion, and facilitated activities. Students will take home handouts, activity plans, and additional resources.
