FREE Toxic Away Day

Date:
Saturday, June 13, 2020 - 9:00am to 1:00pm
Event Description:

On Saturday, June 13, Marin County residents will be able to bring their household hazardous waste (HHW) to the Pt. Reyes Toxic Away Day for safe and free disposal.  The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the Pt. Reyes Fire Station at 4th and B Streets in Pt. Reyes Station.

Additional safety protocols are in place to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. Residents must wear a face covering and all waste must be taken to the event in the trunk of their vehicle. Additionally, residents must remain in their vehicle at all times.

Appointments are required for residents who wish to participate in the event.  Examples of HHW that will be collected include old computer monitors, household batteries, paints, stains, thinners, fertilizers, pesticides, adhesives, gas, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals, and household cleaners.  No waste from businesses will be accepted.

Residents can bring a total of 15 gallons of liquid waste or 125 pounds of dry waste.

To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-207-8222 and press 204.  Space is limited to a 60-car maximum.

If you are unable to participate in the drop-off event, you may bring your HHW to the permanent Marin HHW Facility open to residents of Marin County, excluding Novato.  The HHW Facility is located at 565 Jacoby Street in San Rafael and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 8 am to 3:30 pm.

West Marin Toxic Away Days are a convenient, safe and free way for residents to dispose of their household hazardous waste to avoid accidents and illegal dumping.  This free event is sponsored by Zero Waste Marin, the Marin County Fire Department, and the City of San Rafael Fire Department.

For additional information about the event, please contact David Catalinotto with the San Rafael Fire Department at 415-485-3309.
