Hersko is the Gallery Route One2018-19 Senior Fellow
Hannah Hersko is an American Jewish artist from Cincinnati, Ohio whose family emigrated from Germany and Hungary. She is featured in Gallery Route One "Far From Home" exhibition series.
While working in Berlin Hersko visited Holocaust memorials and museums and had a personal revelation: "Standing in front of these monuments, I was faced with the voids in my own life… I knew I was standing in the space of loss that cannot be seen."Many of the objects in Tracing Voids are similar in form to rigid, static monuments, Hersko uses ephemeral materials such as powdered graphite to trace movement and leave imprints, allowing voids to become tangible. http://hannahhersko.com/
