Leah Jachimowicz, "Reliquaries for the Materials Inside" A Project Space Far from Home Exhibition

Mimi Abers in the Annex

May 3, 2013-June 9, 2013

Reception: Sunday, May 5, 3-5 pm

Salon: Sunday, June 9, 4-5pm Artists talk and discussion of using history in art

Suzanne Parker states  “I think of the figures in the paintings of this exhibition as guests who have appeared unbidden. Some are boisterous and rude, others more refined and ethereal. Most inhabit a world of anxiety and darkness, influenced by my family history of illness and loss, including the death of many relatives during the Holocaust. By giving “life” to these guests, I hope eventually to lighten the weight of their presence”.

Leah Jachimowicz states "The materials we live among become a representation of who we are, and were. Although I am not a tailor, I follow in the footsteps of my grandfather in using his tools to express myself through my artwork. However far removed I may be from his experiences, I hope to continue to honor my grandparent's will to survive as well as express their profound sense of loss through the art of print."

GRO voted best Marin Gallery by the North Bay Bohemian and 1 of the 101 hot spots by the editors of Marin Magazine. We are proud to be celebrating our 30th anniversary this year.
