Let's Talk Gratitude

Date:
Thursday, November 26, 2015 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Event Description:

Listen to Let's Talk Radio this Thanksgiving Day from 11 to noon as we talk about Thanksgiving and giving thanks.

Thanksgiving is a holiday so steeped in tradition that it seems impossible that anyone does it differently than you’re accustomed to. There however are some regional differences in how it's observed. Apparently 82% of us eat turkey that day. 56% of New Englanders say they eat squash every Thanksgiving, compared to just 18% for the rest of the country. The Midwest and West like cherry pies for dessert, while New England and the Mid-Atlantic like apple and the South prefers pecan and sweet potato. Not everyone agrees that pumpkin is the best. What is your favorite tradition when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner?

Thanksgiving is also well known as the holiday in which people give thanks, especially expressing their gratitude for the food they are about to eat or their appreciation for the relationships they enjoy.

Giving thanks or practicing gratitude has some real benefits. By taking time to notice and reflect upon the things we're thankful for, we experience positive emotions, feel alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness and may even have stronger immune systems. Gratitude doesn't need to be reserved only for momentous occasions and Thanksgiving, as we might also feel blessed about having good weather or rain.

Please call Raven Gray, Paul Reffell and Bernie Stephan this Thanksgiving Day to express, over the air, your feelings of gratitude and how you will be celebrating one of America’s favorite holidays. Listen live on the air orKWMR.org and call us on 415-663-8492 during the show.
