Let's Talk Paradigm Shifts

Date:
Thursday, March 17, 2016 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Event Description:

Albert Einstein said, “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”

Isn’t it time we changed our thinking about what human progress should really be about? Could we actually shift our point of view to one of preserving all life on our planet, not just that of humans? We pursue owning and accumulating property and money as if that were the highest priority. An entirely different perspective might allow us an epiphany of awareness, away from the dominant paradigm that has put us on a path to near-term mass extinction.

Without a shift in perspective, or a reframing of our cultural paradigm, it’s extremely difficult to change how we can effectively respond and ultimately get back into balance with nature. While we are stuck within this corporate industrial paradigm, with its global, national and capitalist institutions, what we do every day seems completely appropriate and necessary. We continue sleepwalking down this highly destructive, dead-end path, now defined by climate chaos, loss of biodiversity and the toxification of our lands, waters and atmosphere.

When people believed the earth was flat, all contrary evidence was discounted until our ancestors eventually shifted their perspective, first to a spherical planet and then to finally understanding that we were not the center of the universe.

Some say that a belief paradigm acts very much like a dream when we are asleep. What paradigms do you believe need reexamining? We would like to hear your thoughts on what shifts in our cultural framing are necessary to help save our species and insure continued life on this planet.

Please tune in to Let’s Talk this Thursday from 11 to noon and exercise some revolutionary thinking. Then call in on 415-663-8492 or tweet us @LetsTalkOnKWMR during the show.
