Let's Talk Patriarchy on KWMR

Date:
Thursday, November 12, 2015 - 11:00am
Event Description:

Patriarchy – it’s the outgrowth of agrarian and industrial cultures. It is based on the inventions of property ownership, male-based religions, control of courtship and marriage, control by males of female bodies and their procreative abilities, and the need to conquer to achieve ownership of more property and resources.

What began as a way of amassing wealth through claiming ownership of fields and surplus harvests has created a world of cultures which are now beginning to be challenged by the emergence of women’s demands of being treated as human beings of the same worth as men.

Is our culture ready to change from hierarchic governance to a more egalitarian horizontal structure? How would that take place? Is patriarchy the most efficient form of culture? Is change necessary?

Please listen to Let’s Talk on KWMR this Thursday, November 12th, between 11 and noon, and then call in to voice your opinions on 415-663-8492. Your voice matters!
