Let's Talk Pesticides on KWMR

Date:
Thursday, December 3, 2015 - 11:00am to 12:00pm
Event Description:

On December 3rd, Let’s Talk wants to hear your opinions on Pesticides.

Every year, hundreds of millions of pounds of synthetic pesticides are used in the USA alone. That amounted to an expenditure of eight billion dollars back in 2007 (the latest year for which figures have been released), and that was before GMO foods were widespread. In a 2007 study, all streams and 90% of wells studied by the U.S. Geological Survey were polluted by pesticides.

Is agriculture now dependent on pesticides? Are billions of pounds of chemicals really necessary to grow our food? Can organic farming methods and a return to family farming feed our population? Cancer and neurological diseases are on the rise in the USA, might that be a symptom of the chemical load on our bodies? Can your garden grow without using pesticides, slug bait and rodenticides? Do you feed the wild birds with organic birdseed?

Let us know your experiences with pesticides, if you use them, if you think they’re necessary, if you’ve stopped using them. Please listen to Let’s Talk on KWMR on Thursday 12/3/15 between 11 and noon, and call in to voice your opinions at 415-663-8492. Your voice matters!
