Miwok Music Workshop
Dear neighbors,
Join us for the next Miwok Song & Instrument Workshop this Saturday 2-5 pm at Kule Loklo in Point Reyes National Seashore, led by Miwok storyteller Sky Road Webb. Participants will learn to sing songs in Miwok language and will choose a simple percussion instrument to make – either a Shatum (clapper stick) or a Lawik (bullroarer). Instruction and all materials will be provided.
Sky Road Webb is a Tomales Bay Miwok descendant who leads Coast Miwok songs and prayers at celebrations throughout Northern California, and he was featured in the 2014 Mount Tamalapais documentary The Invisible Peak.
Location: Kule Loklo Miwok Village is a short walk from Bear Valley Visitor's Center in Point Reyes National Seashore, 1 Bear Valley Road in Point Reyes Station.
Presented by Sound Orchard and the Miwok Music Project.
Cost: $30 in advance, $40 day of workshop. Sign up and get more info at www.miwokmusic.org
