For The Ocean A Benefit Art Sale for Ocean Conservation Research

Date:
Saturday, November 18, 2017 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Location:
Event Description:

Inspired by traditional Tibetan prayer flags, we are requesting our fellow artists to join us by making and contributing your own string of prayer flags, which will festoon the coffee bar area of Toby”s Feed Barn for one week in November prior to being sold at the gathering on November 18th.

THE DETAILS:

Your string of prayer flags can be paper or cloth, any dimension and in any medium. Each string should contain a minimum of 5 flags.

The flags should be well attached to a sturdy (but not too heavy) string, with lots of extra on either end.

Flags may be dropped off in a social box at Toby’s Feed Barn  between November 11th-18th.  The box will be located in the little hallway just past the coffee bar on your left, below the seed rack. Other arrangements could be made as well, as needed. Please be sure to sign you work on the back of one of the flags, and also attach you name, email and phone number.

It is our hope that participating artists will enjoy making the flags as vehicles for sending good wishes and blessings to be carried on the wind into the surrounding environment.

"Ocean Life

Most animals use sound perception to sense and communicate into their habitat. Unfortunately, most human activities in the ocean also use sounds, and generate noise. We are rapidly finding that there is a serious conflict between human generated ocean noise, and sea animals’ need to communicate, navigate and hear their surroundings."
