Event Description:
A Museum of One's Own: Small Museums Superb Collections in Europe

We will explore art museums seldom visited by American travelers learning about the collectors as well as their passions in art.  In most cases the museums were residences first, museums later.  In Paris: the Jacquemart-Andre, the Cluny, the Musee Conde at Chantilly and the Musee Marmottan.  In London: the Wallace Collection, The Courtauld, Kenwood House and the Sir John Soane Museum.  We will visit hidden masterpieces in Venice, Milan, and Rome and then go north to Winterthur, Switzerland, Cologne  and the incomparable Lenbach House in Munich.   Instructor, Kerrin Meis, MA
