Sharing Planet Earth with China

Date:
Thursday, February 18, 2016 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Event Description:

China is a country of extremes: on the one hand, China’s dazzling modern cities are home to citizens who are better off than ever. On the other hand, millions of Chinese still lack access to clean drinking water. A growing movement in China seeks to address these disparities and build a greener future. This slide show and talk explores some of the major challenges this movement faces and the progress it has made. Presenters include environmental activist Zhao Zhong, who was named a Time Magazine “hero of the year,” and Kristen McDonald, who is the China Program Director at Pacific Environment. Talk followed by Q and A/discussion.

Sponsored by the Marin County Free Library and Pacific Environment. Made possible with support from the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations' Public Intellectuals Program, which is funded by Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Events sponsored or conducted by the County of Marin are held in accessible sites. For accommodation requests call 415.473.3220 (voice), CRS dial 711, or email library@marincounty.org at least four work days in advance. Documents are available in alternative formats, upon request.
