Workshop - Water Basins for Bees + Birds

Date:
Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 9:00am to 12:00pm
Event Description:

Learn to craft your own water basin for your garden and support your local Bees and Birds! Make your yard and garden an oasis for supporting the important birds and pollinators in your area. This is especially important if you are a beekeeper as your bees can require copious amounts of water during the dry California summer and fall months.

Dive into the exciting world of hypertufa art by hand-crafting your own unique water basin for both birds and bees! Hypertufa  is a method  first used the late 30’s by alpine gardeners in Europe. Stone like structures are cast  and formed from a combination of concrete mortar, sand and coir fiber creating a texture with the look and feel of ancient sculpted rock

This hypertufa mixture is an affordable medium for crafting garden decorations, pots and sculptures that are natural-looking and lightweight. Whether you design a smooth, modern bowl or a rustic, free-form shape, your basin will be a uniquely designed piece of art to be enjoyed by people, birds and birds alike!
