The a Western Weekend organizing commitee has met periodically over the past few months to better organize and coordinate the Western Weekend events.  While the parade on Sunday is what people come from near and far to see, the events on Saturday can serve as the annual community day.  Toby's Feed Barn is the center for the Saturday events with a program that can appeal to old and young alike.

As the first program in the Armchair Travel Series, join Maureen Cornelia and Elizabeth Fenwick as they bring Cuba to us through film and photographs this Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the Point Reyes Library. We’ll learn about Murelando, a community arts project that works with children of the barrio and other highlights from an Art and Literary Tour led by American author, Tom Miller. Elizabeth will share her own experience in Cuba through her gorgeous photographs.

KMT provides the opportunity for children to explore the skills of acting, improvisation, singing and dance through musical theater. Teamwork is emphasized as they work together on this production.

The Past in 3-D: Historical Maps with Dewey Livingston, Mapping Today with Richard Vallejos

Maps provide one of the best views into the past, offering fascinating documentation of places at various times in our history. Historian and mapmaker Dewey Livingston shows some of his 3-D relief maps that depict Tomales Bay and parts of east Marin more than a century ago. Dewey will be joined by Richard Vallejos of Inverness, who will discuss new mapping techniques using digital technology.
